On this Classic Uganda and Rwanda Gorilla trip, you will forge your way through rainforests gorilla trekking for a rewarding discovery of these highly endangered apes, the Mountain Gorillas and Chimpanzees; they do not survive in captivity (and less than 700 remain) so you can only see them here.
The trip highlights on this safari is Gorilla trekking in 2 different countries, Chimp tracking in both Kibale and Nyungwe Forests, Ngamba Island and a visit to the Genocide Memorial in Kigali Rwanda.
Classic Uganda and Rwanda Gorilla Trip Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival
You will be met on arrival at the Entebbe Airport by our driver guide and transferred to your Hotel which is a short distance away. Overnight The Boma, Entebbe
Day 02: Ngamba Island Visit
This morning you will transfer to the jetty for your boat ride to Ngamba Island for chimpanzee viewing. You will reach the Island in time to watch the chimps being fed. Return to the mainland, overnight The Boma, Entebbe

Day 03: Transfer to Kibale Forest
On this day of Classic Uganda and Rwanda Gorilla Trip, have breakfast and then transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. A park known to have the largest number of primates in Africa, you will reach in time for a late lunch. In the afternoon, you will go a for a guided nature walk of the Bigodi Wetland sanctuary. Day 04: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest
Have an early breakfast and then head to the park headquarters for a briefing before you embark on your chimp trek. This chimp trek will take you a half day. After lunch, go for a village walk where you have a chance to learn how the Batooro and the Bakiga the local tribes live. Overnight Primate Lodge

Day 05: Boat cruise on Kazinga Channel
After breakfast, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving early afternoon. Check into your room, have lunch. In the afternoon there will be a launch trip on the Kazinga Channel. Fish Eagle This trip will reward you with game like hippos, buffaloes and elephants at the shores with plenty of bird life. Overnight Mweya Safari Lodge

Day 06: Kyambura chimp trek and Wildlife Safari
After really very early breakfast you will drive to Kyambura Gorge, driving through a grassland area, all of a sudden you will come across an amazing gorge of one hunderd metres deep, covered with tropical rainforest. You will hike into the gorge of the Kyambura river in search of wild chimps. It is a beautiful walk through the river valley, home to many birds and butterfly species as well.
In the evening there will be a game drive in the Kasenyi area. Overnight Mweya Safari Lodge

Day 07: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Today you will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park through the Ishasha area of the park if the road conditions allow. If you are lucky you will watch the tree climbing lions en-route. You will arrive at your lodge for a late lunch.
In the afternoon participate in a village walk. Overnight Engagi Lodge

Day 08: Gorilla Tracking day
After breakfast, you will go for briefing at the park headquarters before heading out to the forest for gorilla trekking, The time spent in looking for these apes, ranges between 2 - 8 hours depending on their movements. However the thrill of encountering the gorillas will erase the strain you went through in trying to find them. Overnight Engagi Lodge

Day 09: Rwanda - Ruhengeri
After an early breakfast transfer to Rwanda driving through Kisoro and the Virunga ranges sceneries, cross the border to Rwanda. You will arrive at your lodge late in the afternoon. Overnight Mt Gorilla View Lodge

Day 10: Second Gorilla tracking Rwanda
After breakfast you will be transferred to Virunga Volcanoes to trek the Diane Fossey Mountain Gorillas after getting a briefing from the park headquarters. The Gorilla trekking can take anything between 2 - 8 hours. Gorilla

Day 11: The beach of Lake Kivu in Gisenyi
After breakfast, check out from the lodge and drive to Gisenyi, a beautiful town located on the shores of Lake Kivu, which is the main water body of Rwanda. Overnight Serena Kivu Hotel

Day 12: Nyungwe Forest
After breakfast transfer to Nyugwe Forest National Park. The road is panoramic along the lake, lunch in Kibuye, arrive in Nyungwe in time for dinner. Optional Leave Gisenyi on boat to reach Kibuye for lunch, enjoying the navigation. Overnight Nyungwe Forest Lodge

Day 13: Primate Watch in Nyungwe Forest
After an breakfast you will enter Nyungwe Forest for trekking in search of chimpanzees and Angolan Colobus Monkeys. Nyungwe is a vast uncontaminated mountain tropical rain forest over 1000 sq km in size and you will be amazed by such intense green mountain vegetation. It is home to 13 species of primates, over 275 species of birds, 100 varieties of orchids. Ensure you carry with you a packed lunch and water. Overnight Nyungwe Forest Lodge

Day 14: Kigali and culture of Rwanda
After breakfast you will drive to Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, have a brief stop over in Gikongoro for a tour of the Genocide Memorial of Murambi. You will also visit Butare, where you can find the best Rwandan, original handicrafts, which you can not find in other African countries. Butare hosts the biggest University and the national cultural museum, worth visiting. Stop over in Nyanza for a tour of the royal palace of the traditional king of Rwanda, the Mwami. Day 15: Departure
After breakfast, transfer to the Kanombe Airport to connect with your international flight out.

Notes: Minimum age to trek the gorillas is 15 and for the chimpanzees 12. Gorilla permits must be paid in full to confirm the safari and are also non-refundable.
