Taste of Rwanda and Uganda – 10 days itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Airport, Rwanda, transfer to hotel
Our driver/guide will meet you at Kigali airport and transfer you to your hotel. Along the way you get your first impressions of this city, which is unusual for Africa. Depending on the time of day, you will have the opportunity to visit the Genocide Memorial, where you will get an insight into Rwanda's recent history. Alternatively you can visit one of the lively markets or the Kandt House Museum.

Day 2: Kigali - Volcanoes Mountains
This morning, after a sumptuous breakfast, we head towards the Volcanoes Mountains. Heading west out of Kigali, you'll soon get a sense of where the name "Land of a Thousand Hills" comes from. The small villages often seem quite sleepy, you will be amazed by the lush vegetation with the large coffee and tea plantations and you will enjoy driving through the constantly changing landscape. There is little
car traffic, the bicycle is still the most popular means of transport among the rural population of Rwanda. In the afternoon you will arrive in Ruhengeri at the foot of the Volcanoes Mountains

Day 3: Volcanoes Mountains - Golden Monkeys Tracking
Today it's time to get up early, have breakfast and then drive to the starting point of the Golden Monkey Tracking. In small groups with a maximum of 8 participants we go to the Vulcanoes National Park. This is where the endangered animals live. Only here in the border area between Rwanda, Uganda and the Congo there are still about 4500 specimens of these mystical golden monkeys. The habitat of the animals are the bamboo forests at the foot of the Virunga Mountains, the ascent is comparatively easy. Alternatively, you can do gorilla tracking at an additional cost.

Day 4: Drive to Kisoro in Uganda
Today the journey continues to Kisoro in the extreme south-west of Uganda. After crossing the border you will reach the small town at the foot of Mount Gahinga after about 1 hour's drive. A paradise for bird lovers, in the vicinity of your lodge you can see a large number of different, sometimes very rare bird species such as the white -tailed bluebird. Observe and photograph the rare white-tailed bluebird.

Day 5: Volcano Climb / Batwa Visit / Rest Day
Today you have the opportunity to choose your daily program yourself. There is an option to climb the surrounding volcanoes, this is a 6-8 hour tour. Alternatively, you can visit a Batwa community or simply spend a day off at the lodge.

Day 6: Kisoro - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Today we head towards Bwindi on a scenic route that is particularly impressive. After breakfast you will drive to the starting point for your gorilla tracking via winding roads with great views of the green terraced mountains and Lake Bunyonyi with its 19 islands.

Day 7: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, gorilla tracking
Today you have the opportunity for a gorilla tracking. Here in the Bwindi Impenatrable NP, the gorillas and the chimpanzees share their habitat. Nowhere else will you find both primate species so close together. After a briefing by the rangers at the entrance to the national park, you will start your hike in the rainforest. At the beginning you go with your guide and a ranger on a developed hiking trail slightly uphill into the park. On the way, the guide will answer your questions about the impressive vegetation of the rainforest and the way of life of the primates. Depending on the whereabouts of "your" gorilla family, it then goes off the beaten track cross-country through the
bush. The ranger paves the way, you follow him and then you suddenly find yourself in front of the gorilla family. You have 1 hour to observe and photograph the animals before heading back. Alternatively, you have the option of hiking in the area or visiting a Batwa community. But surely you will regret it if you don't visit the gorillas.

Day 8: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Lake Mburo National Park, game drive
After breakfast, continue to Lake Mburo National Park. Numerous rocks and hills alternate with small valleys. Arrived at the park you go on a game drive. Here you will find zebra and antelope along with the imposing Ankole cattle.
Overnight Mantana Tented Camp
Meals included: Breakfasr, lunch and dinner
Day 9: Lake Mburo National Park, Walking Safari – Entebbe
In Lake Mburo National Park it is possible to go on a walking safari. Set out with an armed ranger and observe the animals up close. Your guide will show you the tracks of the animals and explain their way of life. After 2-3 hours you come back to the lodge and after lunch you start the drive back to Entebbe. At the equator you have the opportunity to take a few souvenir photos before you reach your guesthouse in Entebbe in the evening.

Meals included: Breakfast and lunch
Day 10: Departure from Entebbe
Today is the day of departure, depending on the flight time you still have the opportunity to visit the botanical garden in Entebbe or to take a canoe trip to the Mabamba Swamp, where you can observe the prehistoric shoebill stork and many other bird species. The driver will take you to the airport
in time for your return flight.
