Rwanda Gorilla Wildlife and Culture Tour

Rwanda Gorillas, Wildlife and Cultural Tour Itinerary:

Day 01: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest

Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park, on the way you will visit the reconstructed King's palace at Nyanza, the Butare Museum and Murambi memorial with a stop for lunch at Butare. You will then continue to Nyungwe Forest.

Day 02: Chimpanzee tracking

Very early breakfast then depart for your chimpanzee trek in Nyungwe Forest. The forest is also home to other primates including the colobus monkeys and has many bird species.

Day 03: Forest Walk

After breakfast drive to Kiningi for the Volcanoes National Park.

Day 04: Rwanda Gorilla Tracking

After breakfast depart for the park headquarters where the park guides will give you a briefing.  After briefing you will embark on your Rwanda gorilla tracking tour in Parc Nationale Des Volcans (Volcanoes Park).  Tracking the gorillas in the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virungas is a rewarding experience.  If you are lucky, you can see the gorillas within a few minutes but it can sometimes take
up to 8 hours before you see them especially if it is muddy and wet.

If your gorilla trek finishes early and your are still physically fit, you can take time to explore the beautiful lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo.

Day 05: Akagera National Park

After breakfast you will drive to Akagera National Park- game drive with an chances of seeing 12 species of antelopes and over 252 bird species including the rare shoebill. You may also see lion, leopard. Rhino buffalo and elephants.

Day 06: Game drive - view Wildlife

You will go for an early morning game drive If you lucky during the game drive you may see lion, leopard. Rhino buffalo and elephants and various antelopes, Elephants.   After lunch go for a canoe ride on the lake where you will see a good number of hippos and may also see large crocodiles.

Day 07: Visit the Crater Lake

After breakfast, you will take a canoe ride for a visit to the crater lakes. Return to the lodge for lunch.  In the afternoon another game drive.

Day 08: Depart for Kigali

After breakfast, it time allows do a city tour including the genocide memorial, and the market before transferring to the airport to connect with your flight out.
